Welcome to the New Orleans Bicycle Club!
The NOBC is dedicated to promoting bicycling, with the emphasis on bicycle
racing, in the Greater New
Orleans area. The NOBC was founded in 1968, and remains at the
forefront of competitive cycling activity. The club is a member of the USA Cycling, and promotes bicycle races and events throughout the year. The
NOBC represents a wide range of cyclists, from beginning Juniors to seasoned
Masters. We invite you to become a member of this unique family.
A few random early summer results of note: Mark McMurry won the Race du Lac Omnium (Cat. 3/4) May 18-19. At the May 4-5 Racing Rapides stage race, Mark placed 3rd in the 40+ race while Randy Legeai was 1st in the 55+ race and Jacob and Joseph Monahan placed were 4th and 5th in the Junior race. Robert Monahan was 8th in the hotly contested Cat. 1/2/3 criterium. The May 26 Feliciana Road Race saw Mark McMurry 4th in the Cat. 3/4 race, Randy Legeai 8th in the 40+ race and Mignon Guerin 8th in the Women's race.
Memorial Day Ride
A number of NOBC members turned out for the annual Memorial Day city ride, led by Kenny Bellau. The group rode out to Chalmette Battlefield, stopped at the World War II museum for a fascinating chat with one of the
WWII Vets, and finished up with coffee and beignets at Morning Call in the old City Park Casino. After a busy weekend of racing and training, the Monday trek through the city made for a nice recovery ride.
